Get to Know Me

Catherine Stuart, LMHC, NCC

Let me introduce myself:

Hello!  My name is Catherine and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a National Certified Counselor.  I'm also a mother, a wife, a friend and an adventurer!  Aside from counseling, my other passions include: camping, running, kayaking, reading a good book, puzzles, and having a good laugh with my family and friends.

Education, Training & Experience:

My counseling education and experience has been a long journey that started in Victoria, BC, Canada then to the east coast in Boston, MA and has now found a home in Washington.  I hold a Master of Science degree in Counseling with a specialization in Couple, Marriage, and Family Counseling from Portland State University.  This program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Programs (CACREP).  My continuing education has focused on specializing in couples counseling (Emotion Focused Therapy & Gottman) and attachment-based trauma using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).  I have trained with experts, Ellyn Bader and Lori Weisman, to offer a research-based and exciting new option of Couples Intensives.

Philosophy & Approach:

You deserve a safe and non-judgmental place to work through obstacles that are in your life, heal from trauma and restore health in your relationships.  It's my passion to help people explore their inner strength and together work towards healing, personal growth and meaningful connection with others.

Our therapeutic relationship is the foundation to creating that change.  My warm, genuine, and welcoming approach is the basis for our work together. You will experience safety, trust, laughter (I like to use humor) and a collaborative space that adapts to age, issue, sexual orientation and the uniqueness of who you are.
